"Communication is everything!" |
|
| How can a Dentist truly meet your needs without understanding your concerns? Without good communication Dentistry becomes a mechanical process. Communication between Doctor and Patient is everything! Your needs, expectations, and goals play a large role in the sucess of your dental care. One of the greatest causes for failure of a good Treatment Plan is lack of communication between the Doctor and Patient. I always strive to listen to my patients so that together we develop a treatment plan that best meets your desires while still addressing all areas of concern. Your Treatment Plan is then determined out of our mutual decision, and therefore budgeted within your expectations.
|
My pledge to you the Patient... |
I believe that it is best to clearly explain all of the possible benefits and potential complications of treatment so that all of your questions will be answered before we begin. I never force patients to accept treatment that they are not ready for. I believe that patients have rights when properly informed to decide their own course of action. I also will not discourage a patient from realising their Cosmetic Dental dreams despite the difficulty of the case, but I will be honest in explaining the limits of today's available technology. I will make every effort possible to give my patients the results that they want. I will endeavor to give you the very best quality and value for your money. I make this promise whether you are asking for the Mecedes-Benz of Dentistry, or only a simple fix that safely stabilizes a problem in a cost effective manner.

A Certified Dental Oncologist by Training: Dr. Wayne Yee completed his Post Graduate 2nd Year Fellowship (PGY-2) at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to become a certified Dental Oncologist. A Dental Oncologist is a sub-specialty of Oral Pathology trained to treat cancer patients. Pre-treatment, present, and former Cancer patients have special Dental requirements due to their compromised immune system. Dental Oncologists are trained to meet the needs of treating ALL cancer patients regardless of the type of cancer. Changes in their oral health can greatly effect a cancer patient's quality of life, and prognosis. Therefore a comprehensive oral exam by a Dental Oncologist is strongly recommended prior to receiving chemotherapy or radiation treatment.

Even before Dental School Dr. Wayne Yee showed an interest in Dental Research. He served Marquette's Psychology Department as a research assistant, while an undergraduate in Experimental Psychology . His project was Dental related in the study of the Auditory Response in Hypophosphatemic Mice. Hypophosphatemia is a rare inherited disorder characterized by impaired transport of phosphate and diminished Vitamin-D metabolism in the kidneys. Quite often this affects the way the bones in the ear transmit sounds. The study's goal was to determine if different frequencies of sound could be used as a diagnostic tool in identifying patients with Hypophosphatemia. This in turn could help identify dental pathology caused by the disease. Unfortunately, Dr.Yee had to graduate and transfer his project to another student research assistant before completion of the work.

Caries detected by today's transillumination technology. Click the image above to go to their website. |

Former Dental Research Assistant (1983-1986) under William O'Brien, PhD; Dr. Wayne Yee co-authored a Research Paper published in the Journal of the American Dental Association on transillumination of blue light through hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity. Early research contributed to a practical use in dental diagnostics 10 years later. Want to learn more on Transillumination? Devices using white light instead of X-rays are now available in the Dental Profession exclusively for the use of detecting caries and other pathology. An excellent example of this has been developed by Electro-Optical Sciences, Inc. Their product combines this diagnostic technique with video and computer technology. Yee may be located in the: "Journal of the American Dental Association" "The application of blue polymer curing lights for diagnostic transillumination."
